Things to do:
If you are an animal lover, visiting the zoo should be on your list. New York State Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country and is a great way to spend time as a family, it is also one of the few activities you can do during the summer. Another would be kayaking down the Black River if you are feeling adventurous. This will be cold so you will only want to do this in summer. If you happen to visit in winter, you are in luck. There is so much opportunity for winter sports such as snowboarding, skiing, and ice-skating. It can get very cold though. If you are visiting from out of state, you may not be prepared for just how cold winter in New York can be.
The city itself:
The city itself is great. It is full of wonderful old buildings but kept to the style of a New York town for the most part. Even at first glance, it will seem like a welcoming place to visit. There are plenty of malls, movie theatres, restaurants, bars, and cafes throughout the city so you'll never run out of things to do. The city has great public transport so getting around will be no problem, you can get to and from New York City easily and the surrounding countryside is beautiful to travel through. There are plenty of parks throughout Watertown that are equally beautiful on a warm summer day or the middle of winter.
The people:
The people are for the most part lovely. They are working hard to make their city a welcoming community and improve daily life for everyone there. The city may have had problems in the past, as most cities have, but now it's a wonderful place to be. The people make you feel wanted, the tourist industry is booming, Watertown is a great place to visit.
